Master in Aphasiology 2019/2020

In accordance with the bio-psycho social rehabilitation model, rehabilitative management significantly depends on professional expertise, knowledge of guidelines and good interaction of healthcare team working on these diseases. Therefore in case of human communication disorders become crucial that the choice of the rehabilitative approach and the planning of the rehabilitation project are designed on the basis of the neurological disease, the individual patient profile, the human and instrumental resources available, the patient needs and the best clinical evidences.

The advanced training course “Logopaedic management of neurocommunicative disorders in adult patients” presents itself as an important vehicle of scientific information about the complex issues concerning the up-to-date assessment and rehabilitation techniques for articulation and phonological speech disorders in adult neurological patients. Knowing correct diagnostic paths and proper rehabilitative proposals offers an important contribution, from the point of view of the appropriateness of the interventions. Due to the complexity of the subject aphasia will not be deepened during this course.

The Master in Aphasiology aims to build a common field of knowledge, that can be used by each healthcare professional (speech therapist, neuropsychologist, doctor) in clinical and rehabilitative management of aphasic patients, in a context of teamwork.
The need of a multidisciplinary approach to aphasic syndrome is in line with Rehabilitation guidelines drawn up by Department of Health, which states that “the point of interdisciplinary teamwork is developing competencies that can be usefully applied in transversal fields by different professionals to deal with common issues ”.
The Master consists of two Sections: the first one focused on General Aphasiology and its assessment instruments and the second one on rehabilitation techniques and strategies. Lessons will take place during the weekends, for a total of eighteen days.
The Master will be held from September 2019 to June 2020 and is aimed at a speech therapists, doctors and psychologists.
