Brainaction is now open,a multidisciplinary outpatient medical centre

640 452 Need Institute

In early 2026, the Need Institute Foundation, in collaboration with the Piero and Zita Salmoiraghi Foundation, established a new outpatient medical centre called Brainaction, where clinical activities are carried out for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. The Centre is staffed by various specialists with hospital experience, who are experts and active in a range of disciplines, including Neurology, Cardiology, Pulmonology, Endocrinology, Dietetics, Geriatrics, Rehabilitation Medicine, Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, and doctors specializing in specific diagnostic tests (ultrasound, electroencephalography, electromyography-electroneurography, cardiorespiratory tests). In addition to the medical staff, there are neuropsychologists, clinical psychologists, physiotherapists and speech therapists.

Where necessary, all these professionals collaborate closely to provide integrated assessments that go beyond the individual and isolated opinion of a single specialist. This approach is particularly effective when managing older people with various comorbidities or in the context of preventive care for people of any age, which inevitably requires medical assessments across multiple areas to prevent any potential deterioration in their health.

It is also worth noting that this multidisciplinary approach enables the Centre to promote a programme for the prevention of brain diseases, addressing any clinical conditions or lifestyle factors currently recognized as risk factors for unhealthy ageing of the human brain. At the Centre, those receiving care will be able to benefit from integrated treatment, which includes the prevention of pathological brain ageing, through interventions aimed at mitigating its risk factors, carried out by the most appropriate specialists.

This strategy, characterized by a decisive multidisciplinary approach to supporting the health of our brain, is encapsulated by the term ‘Brainaction’ – a dynamic fusion of the English expression ‘brain in action’ – intended to convey how an active brain is the hallmark of a healthy brain. Moreover, it is important to be aware that many of the risk factors for brain health are shared with the health of many other organs, to the extent that looking after our brain, as well as supporting good mental health, restores well-being to the entire body.
